I write sketches outside of work for fun, and sometimes I write them inside of work for money.
Leading up to the premiere of Jumanji: The Next Level, I pitched and scripted a bunch of concepts for the social campaign, using the cast’s real life and the absurdity of the movie itself as creative inspo.
Jack Black Recreates Atari Commercial
Jack Black had already been in a video game commercial long before Jumanji. As a child actor, he appeared in an Atari ad for Pitfall!. So we recreated the commercial with a Jumanji twist, turning a weird little piece of Jack’s past into a piece of the campaign.

ASMR Trailer
Inspired by the internet’s obsession with celebrity ASMR, from Real Housewives fight videos to Zoë Kravitz’s iconic beer spot, we had our cast dub their lines and the trailer’s loudest SFX in a soothing whisper.
Nick Jonas: Horse Girl PSA
Nick Jonas became the spokesperson for a very serious PSA about the dangers of becoming a literal horse girl, a fate his Jumanji castmate couldn't escape in the movie. We pitched, scripted, and shot the spot with Nick. It never aired, but trust that he delivered.
Akwafina: Cat Burglar
To nail her role as an in-game cat burglar, Awkwafina took method acting very seriously. We followed her around set to observe her “process” as she quietly stole things from production, and ultimately, steals the show.
The sketch made it to the DVD extras.
