The Fast and the Furious: Existential Drift

A dead-serious Fast & Furious parody about a man driving through his hometown contemplating the passage of time and roads not taken.

Trailer coming soon.

A beat-up car pulls up to a stoplight. DRIVER rolls down his window.

DRIVER
I used to drag here back in high school.
That railroad crossing is exactly a quarter mile
from here. On green, I'm going for it.

OTHER DRIVER
Your gas cap's open.

DRIVER
[Bleep!]

DRIVER fumbles with his seatbelt. Scrambles to unlock the door. The light turns green. Cars behind him honk. The other car takes off.

Cut to driving sequence - Ignition, headlights, engine revs, gear shift.

DRIVER

the future.

in the rearview mirror.

Arby's with the 10-gallon hat sign.

Modernized Arby's.

DRIVER
They took that from us.

Turn signal.

DRIVER
Sometimes I wonder what my life would've
looked like if I had taken a different road.

Car turns.

DRIVER
Different job.

DRIVER
Different city.

DRIVER
Different life.

Car turns again.

DRIVER
But maybe there are no wrong turns.

GPS VOICE
Recalculating.

DRIVER
[Bleep.]

We finally reveal there's been a PASSENGER in the backseat the entire time.

PASSENGER
Uh, do you know where you're going?

DRIVER looks in the rearview mirror.

DRIVER
I used to think I did.
(beat)
Now I just drive.

Exterior shots of car driving, Then cut back inside the car.

"Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit begins quietly.

DRIVER
I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
Nothing else matters. Not the rent.

Engine revs.

DRIVER
Not the dead-end job.

Speedometer climbs.

DRIVER
Not my wife and kids and all their bullshit.

PASSENGER grabs door handle.

DRIVER
For those 10 seconds or less...

Railroad crossing sign. Music builds.

DRIVER
I just drift.

Train horn blares. Car screeches to a halt. Freight train roars past.

Abrupt cut to black. Then title card:

THE FAST & THE FURIOUS: EXISTENTIAL DRIFT

Then:

COMING SOONER THAN YOU THINK

Cut to DRIVER pulled over on the side of the road, messing with Google maps.

PASSENGER
Hey man, you can just let me out here.

DRIVER
What? Are you sure? I can make a u-turn.

PASSENGER
There are no u-turns.

That sinks in. PASSENGER gets out and walks away.

DRIVER
Hey!

PASSENGER turns back around.

DRIVER
I hope you find what you're looking for.

PASSENGER
Thanks, man. You should probably
talk to someone about all that.

DRIVER.
Oh and can you rate me 5 stars?

Cut to black.
